Emilia Smeds

Research Fellow, University of Westminster

Dr Emilia Smeds is a Research Fellow based at the University of Westminster, London. Her expertise centres on policy and governance for transitions towards sustainable and socially just urban mobility. Emilia recently worked on the H2020 CIVITAS SUMP-PLUS project, developing a new long-term planning approach for developing ‘transition pathways’ to carbon-neutral mobility, which is now being developed into practitioner guidance. Emilia’s PhD compared municipal government capacity for policy experimentation in Bristol and New York City, tracing the long-term impact of small-scale experiments on urban mobility systems. She is currently progressing this area of research within the JPI EX-TRA project (Experiment with City Streets to Transform Urban Mobility).
